LatinxBloom was born in 2023, when I was still living in Victoria, BC. It started from a very personal need: to create a safe space where I could express myself as a teacher, a connector, and a Latina woman. A place where I could teach from my cultural roots while also opening the doors for people from all cultures who, like me, were searching for belonging in a new country.

Latin music and dance were the foundation, but the vision has always been much bigger: to build a diverse communitywhere it doesn’t matter where you come from, what language you speak, your dance level, or your personal story. Here, everyone has a place to feel the energy of Latin culture, while also sharing their own background, contributing from their culture, and growing together in an authentic, warm, and inclusive environment.

That’s how LatinxBloom came to life. The name was chosen with great intention:

• Latinx honors my roots and my culture, while also serving as an invitation for other cultures to feel welcome. The “X” symbolizes inclusivity: it doesn’t matter your identity, your origin, or how you define yourself — everyone is welcome here.

• Bloom means to flourish. Because this project is exactly that: flourishing through movement, music, friendships, and the powerful experience of being embraced by a community.

Since then, it has been a beautiful journey. From Victoria to Vancouver, LatinxBloom has continued to grow and evolve. Many of the people who joined on day one are still here, and every week I feel the incredible energy of this group. Watching deep friendships form, seeing different cultures connect, and hearing that for many this community feels like family in Canada is my greatest pride.

LatinxBloom is my little baby, and I’m deeply grateful to all the people who have been and continue to be part of this journey.
